Our Technology Rationalization
(TechRaz)
services help you determine the ideal mix of
applications from the myriad applications that currently populate
your IT landscape. We analyze the applications to identify those
that bring genuine value to the business strategy.
The Technology Rationalization (TechRaz)
Analysis is typically based on a combination of qualitative analysis
and statistical modeling to significantly reduce the subjectivity of
enterprise level recommendations. At the end of the analysis, we
provide a comprehensive recommendation of a target roadmap, which
not only provides a high return on investment but is also aligned
with the overall business objectives.
Approach
The following figure represents our
approach to Technology
Rationalization (TechRaz):
The following section discusses the
Porting/Re-engineering approach as part of our Technology
Rationalization.
Porting/Re-Engineering
Many of our clients are faced with
the challenge of aging and costly legacy systems they need to
transition to modern technologies that provide greater business
flexibility and lower the ratio of IT spend between maintenance and
new development. In the scenario of multiple applications with
overlapping functionality, there exists opportunities for
consolidation of application by migration and porting. WebLinkOnline
Group undertakes a phased approach for recommending a
consolidation plan.
Phase I – Business Context
Analysis
We conduct questionnaire-driven
interviews and focus group sessions with the business users and IT
stakeholders to determine the prioritization of applications for
porting or migration. Subsequently, we collect information on the
performance, scalability, availability and maintainability of these
applications to analyze the feasibility of portability.
Phase II – Analysis of
Change Drivers
We analyze the strategic business
initiatives that impact the architecture and the associated set of
tactical issues that influence application functionality. We also
analyze the vendor lock-in implications, the cost optimization
possible through migration/porting and the market forces that could
influence future architecture planning.
Phase III – Architecture
Modeling
We extract the static and dynamic
elements of the exiting architecture and group the elements into
different components based on strategic business paradigms.
Subsequently, we identify migration opportunities within a grouping
by determining a portability score using the following parameters:
- Ease of Porting/Migration Index
- Dependency Index
Phase IV – Determining
gTo-Beh Models
Based on the modeling exercise, we
determine the ideal gTo-Beh model for your environment. We
provide a new framework for the business services supported and the
infrastructure services needed for operations.
Benefits
The Technology
Rationalization Analysis provides you with a strong architectural
framework for consolidation and migration of existing applications.
This helps you to understand the redundancy of applications, the
ease of porting, vision of long-term architecture and planning of
the migration process. The analysis also provides a recommendation
and roadmap for each of your applications that will help you create
tactical plans.
Critical Alignment
Itfs no secret
that information technology is revolutionizing business, but the
rate of change and the breadth of its impact are catching many
companies off guard. Rushing to keep pace, they often invest huge
sums in IT. The race, however, belongs not only to the swift but
also to the selective. Creating the proper alignment between a
companyfs business strategy and IT strategy is critical.
